Mangaluru, Jun 26: Mangaluru based cine actor, social worker and journalist Agnel Rodrigues passed away on Sunday, June 26.

Agnel Rodrigues was 55. Family members said he breathed his last due to cardiac arrest.

Agnel is survived by wife Merlyn, sons Sanjay and Sanjith.

He was the managing director of Agnel Adventure and Coastal Times News.

Agnel was a resident of Bejai in city. He was a member of Lions Club for several years. He also served as public relations officer of Lions Club.

He was also member of many social organisations through which he got actively involved in social service. He had won Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy award as well Dakshina Kannada Rajyotsava award.

Agnel was in the forefront in educating the public with traffic related information through media.

He was the secretary of Mangaluru press club and an executive committee member of Dakshina Kannada working journalists' association. 

He had acted in many movies including with Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar. Some of the films he acted in the recent past in Tulu were 'Chali Polilu' 'Oriyardhori Asal’ ‘Namma Kudla’ and ‘Telikeda Bolli'
