Mangaluru, Jun 27: As a result of rains and dark clouds, adverse weather conditions prevailed in Mangaluru on Sunday, June 26 and three flights which were supposed to land at Mangaluru International Airport were diverted to Bengaluru.

Jet Airways 431 Mumbai-Mangaluru flight, Air India Doha-Mangaluru flight and Jet Airways 815 Bengaluru-Mangaluru flight were diverted to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru due to poor visibility in city airport.

The Jet Airways Bengaluru-Mangaluru flight which had departed Bengaluru at 3.27 pm had almost reached Mangaluru, but was recalled to Bengaluru as it was decided that it was not safe to land here. The flight reached back Bengaluru at 4.56 pm. When the visibility improved here, the flight took off again at 6.25 pm from Bengaluru. Food and civil supplies Minister U T Khader and Kannada actor Upendra were onboard this flight. The minister was on his way to Mangaluru to address a press meet which was later cancelled. He was also scheduled to take part in an Iftar at Ullal.

Flights are cancelled even in airports like JFK New York. Respect nature and be safe. Good decision by those concerned to delay the flights.

Airport is built as if there is no place available in Coastal Karnataka, Padubidri UPCL area would be a ideal place for airport. But people protested and in return now they got UPCL and both the projects proved dangerous.
