Udupi, Jun 27: Two school buses, which were about to collide, were saved by the presence of mind of the driver of a bus on Monday morning June 27 here.

A school bus from Trinity central school was coming back after dropping students. Another bus from a school in Brahmavar was coming from the opposite direction. When these two buses were about to collide near Sharada Mantapa at Beedinagudde, the driver of Trinity school bus, steered the bus away towards the extreme left which allowed the other bus to pass safely. Hence many children in the other bus were saved from danger.

In that process the trinity school bus ended up stuck on the roadside.

There is a valley beneath the place where the bus is stranded now and the mishap took place just after the Trinity school bus passed a small bridge.

Yes I understand nothing bad happened here. But just imagine bus rolling over to the left side? You think its safe? Unscientific road construction is to blame. These concrete roads are no good for bus traffic. Moment you move bit off the road, you are into great danger. Its simply pathetic condition everywhere. This is what happens when there is no educational requirements to become leaders and decision makers.

Since the School van carrying children collision, accidents are now on the rise ,we should first of all ask, does These Drivers have a Special allowance or licence to carry children and are trained enough to meet the necessary steps when something happened.Sametime our roads too are not best ,to avoid the collisions .Govt should give extra care in such things.control these Driver from time to time ,so they dont bring children in danger.

oh my god what happened to the drivers of mangalore/udupi?when they are speeding those who are inside the bus keep quiet, because speed thrills at the same time kills and there is a pleasure while travelling with high speed, we forget the consequences at that time.
when a driver is speeding all passengers should get up from the seat and thrash the driver, ladies should be first to thrash him!!

actually the drainage chamber saved the bus nothing else, roads where there are no lay byes should have safety grills.
Lord please save the little kids everywhere as the corrupt officials are busy filling their pockets.

Nothing like presence of mind. The bus driver knew if he hits another bus, the chances of him getting injured is more, that's why he avoided the accident. If it was a smaller vehicle like car, he would not budged a inch .

I dont understand why drivers dont slowdown or put breaks during this type of situation. Instead of suddenly turning or moving the bus away it would be safe for drivers to put brakes when vehicles comes in a collision situation.

Here i feel its no school bus driver is to be blamed.. you see there is concrete road put on but both its said to be steep descent but after concrete is put they have not installed proper steel barricade nor proper mud is put on side to level of the road which could result in soil being loosened in rain n slip down.. when this bus enters it would have struck bus for one side and fortunately there was some drainage cap beside that stopped bus from tripling down .. so authorities should take necessary action soon to install proper barricade at the end of bridge towards the steep sided roads..

Look at pathetic condition of our roads. With such conditions are the cause of accidents, painting yellow will not divert accidents that happen. We have to send children out of our house only on mercy of God.

Poor road infrastructure is the prime cause of all accidents followed by reckless driving. Just rules and regulations are not enough. Thank God they are saved. I noticed most concrete roads do not have sufficient setback in the edge roads. During such dangers motorist are high risk then to collide!!!!

What is their destination with such speed on narrow roads! Simple solution is start 10 minutes early. With speed they can hardly save 3 to 4 minutes!

Authorities are limiting numbers in private transport vehicles (Auto/Maruti), asking them to be painted yellow and so on. If driving itself is not safe, of what use are other guidelines ?

WHAT ABOUT POLITICIAN SPONSORED PVT BUSES AND OTHER HEAVY VEHICLES??? SPEED GOVERNORS NOT REQUIRED FOR THEM, SINCE THEY DRIVE VERY RASHLY AS IF THEY HAVE NO FEAR OF LAW.

Looks like fearsome engulfed among school bus drivers..after certain incidents. Better they drive as usual without any pressure slowly. Moreover due to rain streets are often make problems. Anyhow collision averted is best part of it.
