Udupi, Jun 27: Two vehicle owners, ferrying children to school, tired of neglect of road by the corporation ignoring complaints, joined hands and repaired the road closing pot holes to the appreciation of local people. The incident took place at Beedinagudde near here on Monday, June 27.

The road tarred only four months ago, was washed away due to sub- standard work in the rain causing huge craters and pot holes in many places. Local people had complained about it to the city council but no action was forthcoming. Tired of the government office attitude, children's vehicle owner and driver Vigneshwara Bhat and driver Krishna Prasad who were worried about the safety of children came back to the road after leaving children in the school and started filling the pot holes.

In Beedinagudde, where drainage work has just been completed, mud has caved in causing huge craters making vehicle drivers drive in anxiety. A school bus was about to fall into valley after it avoided a collision with another school bus on Monday, June 27 due to the bad condition of the road. The people have hoped that the council wakes up and takes at least temporary preventive measures.

Vigneshwara Bhat and Krishna Prasad informed that many accidents have taken place on this road in the recent past.

every village has a panchayat. A panchayat will have more powers representing max people than few people the problems should be addressed to Panchayat and all villagers should participate. Hats off to these guys at least they are trying to bring some solution. They are are at least concerned about safety compared to so many rich guys who are passing in their 5 star vehicles.

Mr.John, it is easy to comment by sitting at home.

Poor people work so hard to benefit the public, by providing at least temporary solution to avoid traffic hurdles.

    You are talking technical points??

Why can't to go and do the permanent solution if you are so intelligent & honest?

Due to the mentality of the people like you, others hesitate to help the people.

Shirish, You are in Muscat where you dont have to bear the inconvenience of mud filled roads!. Come down to Udupi/Mangalore and try to drive a two wheeler or walk on these roads!. Just walk on Udupi Inspection bungalow road where mud was put on both sides to beautify during Paryaya!. That time it was dust and now now the road looks like a slush filled field!. Just watch how children and all struggle to walk on this road!. When we do some work, it has to be done properly else leave it like that!. For one problem, people now have to face ten problems!

Even though I appreciate the concern shown by the drivers, I equally question the method used!. How on earth people use mud to fill potholes on road knowing very well that mud will get slippery, cause lot of inconvenience to road users and also destroy more road!?. Can anyone walk or drive on a mud filled road!?. The same thing will cause lot of dust in summer!. We still are developed country because of these crude techniques!. I dont appreciate!

Rita, where did I criticize them!?. I only told about the inconveniences of the method used!. Please read my comment carefully. Does mud stay even for a single day!?. The pothole also will reappear in no time and people have to bear the nuisance of pothole, mud splashing and slippery road after that!. I am using these type of roads everyday and I know very well!.

As per Indian tradition there were no roads, toilets etc. People used to travel on bullock cart, horse and used to go forest for .....? Now our PM started toilet abyan.....? then they will think about making permanent roads. At present they are giving contract to construct temporary road by taking corruption.
