Mangaluru: Accident at Valachil, 87-year-old car driver dies

Mangaluru, Jun 28: In an accident that took place between a KSRTC bus and an Alto car, one person has died.

Badila Guthu Vasantharam Shetty (87), the driver of the car, is the person deceased.

The accident occurred at Valachil near here on Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway. Eye witnesses said that the car hit the stationary bus from behind.

    Bus without parking lights and stationary. NH 75 without bus bays. This is the actual cause for accident. Don't post senseless comments on the driver he is well experienced than you all. RIP.

    This is an unfortunate accident or rather an incident whereby a 87-years-old driver hit a stationery KSRTC bus and was killed. There may be several reasons for this but some comments are unwanted. Accidents do happen, any where and at anytime. Just pray that the soul of Badila Guthu Vasantharam Shetty rest in eternal peace and deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and loved ones. Life is short but he lived a long life.

    Sad and horrible scenery of car rest.was anybody in that car?I feel the Driver of this car must have lost control over car before accident happened.may be had heartattack ,died before itself.otherwise one cant explain such a accident. cant recognize it was a car.did any postmartum ordered?may his Soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his Family.

    Most of the times these sorts of buses there are no brake lights...Please have a check on the brake lights too of the bus.

    I dont understand why they not provide BAY to bus stop, let bus stop at bay left lane of road, Now days I noticed buses stops at Center of the road...RTO or traffic not interested take action..or NH road...Life is Precious..

    Forget bay, there is not even a small service rd for pedestrians or to park vehicles in emergency!

    Pvt buses stop anywhere the like, that too w/o any signal!

    Goats/cows freely roam on these roads!

    Many vehicles drive in opp direction!

    Less spoken the better! Kai DK!

    As per Mr Stan no one should judge others even after death. Accordingly,all courts should be closed since We should quit the habit of judging others even after their death. None should come forward as witnesses.
    Many Buses do not have working STOP LIGHTS and they stop suddenly when someone shows the hand. These are the causes for many deaths.
    Friends,have you seen more than 25 huge trucks park on footpath near Rural Police Station on Kaikamba-Maroli Highway. Now the school is started and Little Children walk to school with their Parents or alone with Umbrella in hand. Vehicles are speeding at 100 KM per Hour. Container trucks,tankers tippers speed on this road. Everyone wakes up when few Children die and until than no one cares. I have given in writing to DC Ibrahim,previous SP Sharanappa,ACP Udaya Naik,DCP Santhosh Babu, Personally met and requested Inspector Pramod and SI Muddy. Even I requested present DCP Mr Sanjeeve Patil and He agreed. But still there are more than 30 huge trucks Park both sides,including in front of hotel Kodhandarama. Even the employees of a Printing Press walk on highway as there is no room on footpath. I request all of you reader to call DC Mr Ibrahim or Police Commissioner Mr Chandrashekar and request them to remove the trucks before another few Children Die.

    looks like this man may be drunk or lost control due to old age low sugar medical check up must be done compulsory after 70 if unfit license has to be confiscated.ban maruti/omni or any japanese/korean light weight cars are not suitable for indian roads.however they can be used if they are extra fitted with strong pipes from inside so that there will be at least some safety.

    People like you make me sick. Medical check ups are compulsory after 70 and I get that. Just because a person has BP and sugar that does not mean he cant drive. Its just an unfortunate event could have happened to anyone. I live in a country people drive till 90 or even beyond. Stop judging. Age is just a number

    Age is not the criteria to renew or issue driving licence. It's more of mental agility, judgement and physical fitness is the primary factors. Just because one is above certain age, one can't be denied a driving license. Even physically impaired persons too are allowed to drive modified vehicles

    RIP..
    here it seems to be the mistake of car driver. could not control the vehicle.
    But the point to be thought seriously about is.. How well planned are our so called national highways. I feel single roads are far better than such unplanned/unscientific roads. No space for buses to halt near bus stand. obviously they will utilize the road. even a Regular commuter sometimes fails to predict when and where this buses will stop. Private buses are even worse. they stop the bus as and where required. People are used to it. So no one speaks. Everyone thinks 'None of my business. Why will i speak as long as i am safe'?

    May be age related. Persons reflexes surely go week @ 87 and tend to be bit dangerous. Must have failed to have proper judgment. RTO should limit issuing or renewing driving license after certain age.

    yes true ..buses there s a bustand but dey will not stop in bustand ,for example kulur bustand s der but none of the buses stop in bustand. police s der but dey simply stop unnecessary vehicles .for making money.. wer s the rules done by rto
