Hassan, Jun 29: After a car went off course and plowed into a roadside tree when moving on Bengaluru-Mangaluru national highway 75 at Kumbaragatte near Bage in Sakleshpur taluk of the district on Tuesday June 28, four persons lost their lives.

The car was carrying pilgrims who were going back to Bengaluru after visiting Dharmasthala. At around 5 pm, the car suddenly went out of control of the driver, took a steep right turn and hit a tree. Among the four people including a woman in the car, three died on the spot, while the fourth one lost life when being carried to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Krishnakumari, Dhananjay, Nishant and Kishen, all from Bengaluru. They were aged between 20 and 28. The front portion of the car was completely mangled due to the impact of the accident. There is suspicion that torrential rain in the region would have caused this accident.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary of Crawford Government Hospital, Sakleshpur. A case was registered in Sakleshpur rural police station.
