Kasargod, Jun 29: An investigating team from Kalaburagi headed by deputy superintendent of police, Jahnavi, visited the medical college hospital at Kozhikode where Ashwithi (19), a nursing college student from Kalaburagi is undergoing treatment. In the presence of the team, sub-inspector of the medical college hospital Kozhikode recorded the statement of the nursing student on Monday June 27.

The student was suffering from breathing problems and vomitting, and hence had become very tired and weak. It took several hours for her statement to be recorded. The girl had been forced to drink phenyl by her seniors on May 9 this year at a nursing college hostel at Kalaburagi. It is said that her internal organs have been damaged on account of consumption of toilet cleaner.
