Karkala, Jun 29: The dead body of Geetha (26) was found hanging in her residence at Kantavara on June 23. Initially, it was said to be a case of suicide but the forensic report revealed that Geetha was murdered before she was hanged in the house.

As there was nobody other than deceased Geetha's husband Harish and the child in the house it is alleged that her husband is the prime accused in the case.

Geetha, the second daughter of Moodubelle residents Saroja and Sanjeeva Pana was married to Kantavara resident Harish three years ago. Initially everything was good between the couple. However the arguments later between the two had led to fights. Meanwhile a child Niriksha (2) was born.

Geetha had gone to her parent’s house on June 19 saying that she would return within three days. She was unable to return and came back on June 23. The couple had quarrels because of this. The dead body of Geetha was found hanging soon afterwards.

Harish had told the rural police that he cut the rope and tried to rescue Geetha. But the complaint by the mother of Geetha was contrary to his statement. She had stated in her complaint to the rural police that her son-in-law Harish was responsible for her daughter's death and urged for a detailed investigation.

Rural police station inspector Rafiq who saw the marks of the rope on her neck sent the dead body to forensic laboratory. If the wife dies within seven years of marriage, the post-mortem gets registered by the Tahasildar.

The police have received the Forensic report. Further investigation will be taken up by Circle inspector G M Naikar.

Theres no problem in marriage that cant be solved by talking and dialogue. I feel sad when i hear marital disharmony and deaths like this. Lets live happily in marriage if marriage doesnt work get a divorce Thats a easier solution rather than attacking and killing the partner Let there be peace

I think people here are jumping to conclusions based on the title of the article.

Under the Indian legal system, the police or any forensic laboratories are not authorised to someone guilty of a crime or otherwise.

The job of the police is to arrest/interrogate suspects, and build a case of culpability of the suspect/s.

The police must take the suspect to a court of law to have the matter scrutinised, and based on the evidence available, the court of law then either s the suspect as guilty of the crime, or acquit the suspect for lack of sufficient evidence.

In every case of suicide, we always find enough people who it as a murder! But in most cases (especially when the case moves to a higher court), that allegation turns out to be false.

So, in my opinion, declaring someone guilty of a crime by reading an article is unjust.
