The price rise may be as high as 177%

Bengaluru, Jul 1: In a jolt to wine lovers, following government’s decision to impose additional excise duty, it is reliably learnt that wine prices may go up by as much as 177%.

A draft notification was released on June 22 regarding imposing 177% excise duty on wine prices made up of five slabs. Sources say that the prices may come into effect from July 1 itself.

However, after deliberations it is decided to increase the prices by 59%, said state wine manufacturers' association president P L Venkatarama Reddy. "Though the draft notification stated that the excise duty will be increased by 177%, the officials have assured in their final notification that it will be increased by 59%. The final notification is awaited."

    Wine is not banned and cannot be banned just the price hike. Whoever cannot afford are burning into ashes. Wine is luxurious , it's not common man's drink.

    No one blaming Siddu for this. The Porbus are very good at brewing wine at home. Even in KSA they brew liqour in pressure cookers. So does not make a difference.

    Ban liquor completely and make this world better place to live.

    Banning liquor will save many houses from destruction.
    It will not have to see middle aged parents to live on the roads because of the drunkard son.
    It will reduce crimes of all sort.
    Men will stop selling their home appliances.
    They will stop lying and take money from home or friends.
    They will start going to work and provide education to their kids.

    If liquor is banned, illicit distilleries and drug smuggling will flourish, that too under the patronage of our country’s so-called police. Drug peddlers and hookah cafes do a booming business in countries where liquor is unavailable.

    Government should ban immediately wine and all other liquor related items. Also include to ban pork, beef and introduce more outlets having sea food products along with having vegetable section separately. Keep moral police active giving incentives to trap homely made liquor items.
    BJP's motto ofcourse is much concern about people's health.
