Mangaluru: Dr B R Shetty inaugurates 'Alva's Pragati' job fair, thousands turn up

Mangaluru, Jul 2: The two-day job fair, 'Alva's Pragati 2016', organized by Alva's Education Foundation, was inaugurated by NRI entrepreneur, CEO of Abu Dhabi-based NMC Healthcare Dr B R Shetty at V S Acharya hall, Moodbidri on Saturday July 2.

As per the organizers, nearly 10,000 aspirants have registered online for the job fair, and thousands turned up on the first day.

Addressing the gathering, Dr B R Shetty said that achievement should not be restricted to academics alone.

"Involvement in sports, cultural activities and other extra-curricular activities helps a person develop an excellent personality which in turn makes the individual an eligible candidate for any field. Education should be employment-based. In this regard, Alva's Foundation has achieved what the government should have done. Our aim should not be earning money alone. We should have the will to use our wealth for social service as well," he said.

"It is very important that once we are beneficiaries of this society, we give back to it. This is our responsibility, and moreover that is what counts at the end of the day.

"I have greatly benefitted from this society, it has shaped me as a responsible human being and given me a chance to serve mankind in many ways. Though I came from a poor background, my hard work and continuous effort have brought me to this stage," he added.

"Today we are in diversified sectors like pharmaceuticals, global financial service, retail, advertising and information technology. New Medical Centre is today UAE’s largest private health care provider, with its hospitals and medical centers serving over two million patients annually across 12 facilities spread over 5 cities and 4 Emirates. Dr Mohan Alva is phenomenal in serving the society in many ways and this job fair is a highly potential platform for rural masses to pursue their dreams," Dr Shetty said.

Legislator K Abhaychandra Jain said, "Recent developments in the field of education have resulted in a large number of job aspirants coming out of engineering, technical and medical colleges. Hence, 'Alva's Pragati' is boon for those candidates in actual terms. This common platform provides excellent opportunities to the companies to interact with talented youths who are willing to go that extra mile to prove themselves."

Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva welcomed the gathering and said that the job fair started seven years ago and since then, has transformed to a grand scale. "Besides Alva's, students from different institutes in the state participate in the fair. Candidates from SSLC to post graduate level have opportunities to secure jobs here," he said.

MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Vivek Alva, managing trustee, Alva's Educational Foundation, Jayashree Sudhakar were present among others. Prof Raveendra Shenoy was the master of ceremony.

    Great initiative, noble initiative and also a timely initiative, Dr. B. R. Shetty in inaugurating "Alva's Pragati job fair and helping tens of thousands of willing candidates to come forward and register themselves.

    Thru these noble and thoughtful gestures, so many young men and women will come forward and submit their job resumes in order to be able to fit in to any prospective opportunities that come on their way in order to get involved in the dignity of labor.

    A timely career involvement is the single most rewarding gift that a young candidate deserves when he or she is reasonably qualified and willing to accept any kind of job that is available so that he or she can earn her daily bread and share that bread with his or her families.

    The world is going thru so many hardships because when more than two million young men and women get graduated in India, the job opportunity is not there in the horizon. Unemployment for a young man or a woman can be a deadly disease because without a job no one can prosper in this world, and no one's family will move forward.

    Tens of thousands of candidates and their families will remain grateful to you for your kind thoughts and initiatives, and in turn God also will reward you much more with good health and happiness.

    We have never had the opportunity of meeting with you, and it will be our joy one day we shall meet and personally thank you for all your noble contributions to our society. "Namaskhaar".
