Bengaluru, Jul 2: The government has decided to put a full stop to the system of making police constables work in the houses of their senior officers called ‘Orderly’.
Minister of home affairs Dr Parameshwar said that the matter will be discussed at the next cabinet meeting. The orderly system has continued from the British era.
“Once the orderly system is stopped, the assistants will be employed on contract basis. Their salary will be decided by the home ministry,” said the minister.
“It will be possible to appoint servants instead of orderlies the way personal assistants are appointed. The appointments will be temporary. The orderly system will be done away with after the alternative arrangement. Rules are being framed for the purpose,” he said.
