'Dhand' Tulu movie creates record with houseful show in Israel

Media Release

Tel Aviv, Jul 3: Sandhya Creations' second venture 'Dhand' Tulu film, after receiving overwhelming response in Mangaluru, Mumbai, Nasik, Australia, UK, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, and Qatar, premiered in Israel on Friday July 1, creating a record houseful show as thee 'first ever South Indian movie to get proper theatre release in Israel' and thus adding yet another feather to its cap. The movie had also created history as the first Tulu film to be released in Australia and the UK.

It was a festive mood for all Mangaloreans in Israel who flocked to the theatre much before the time of the film show. Tickets were sold out and there were many volunteers who though could not get the tickets/seats, managed to sit on the floor and watched 'Dhand'.

Lenard Fernandes who worked hard through sleepless nights to arrange this special show, arranged the official inauguration at around 6.45 pm with specially invited Israeli chief guests. Vincent Lobo and Roshan D'Souza invited Galia Bador, festival director of DOCAVIV who said, "It was great. Well organized, and the film was very good. I wish I could stay till the end. I see you are very talented."

Along with him he invited Alon Garbor, ex-head of Cinematheque Tel Aviv who commented, "Dear Lenard, thank you for the nice evening and the honour you gave us. It was a pleasure." Another invitee, Smadar Eliasaf, a well-known artist who is also a trained Yoga practitioner said, "It was a great event... So happy to take part."

Lenard introduced the chief guests to the audience who welcomed them with loud applause even as they were honoured with bouquets. It was a different inaugural ceremony with chief guests opening the DCP and ticket copy of 'Dhand' from the beautifully wrapped box and wishing the audience for the special show. As soon as Lenard announced the opening of the houseful show, the audience cheered with applause and whistles as the screen lit up brilliantly.

It was for the first time the DCP of 'Dhand' got placed and blessed at the holy site of the birth of Jesus and one of the rare opportunities anybody might have got for this kind of event. A WhatsApp group of Mangalureans in Israel was also created with hundreds joining in daily and communicating with each other as to how the show should go and so on. This united many Mangalureans there with the sole aim of supporting 'Dhand' and resulted in the houseful show. The public responded with whistles and applause whenever they saw the popular Deepak Paladka appear in comic scenes on screen and also welcomed with applause producer Shodhan Prasad when he made a guest appearance on screen.

After watching the whole movie the public positively responded with their reviews that Sandhya Creations had presented a really great movie with a good message and appreciated director Ranjith Bajpe's story and direction, saying this was one of the best movies they had ever watched in Tulu.

'Dhand' Tulu Movie has been carefully, beautifully and digitally created without compromising on the quality, line and length with a mass social message to women folk. Stars Arjun Kapikad, Sandeep Shetty, Anoop Sagar along with Deepak Paladka, Shilpa Suvarna, Nidhi Maroli, Anvitha Sagar supported by Gopinath Bhat who received the best supporting actor award recently, Umesh Mijar, Ranjan Boloor, Sudhakar Kudroli and Producer Shodhan Prasad, were all appreciated for their acting. Moreover, the soulful background music and songs composed by music director Abhishek S N with lyrics by Loku Kudla, Rajneesh Amin and U Y Ravichandran Sonandoor were immensely liked by the audience, specially the romantic song sung by Sonu Nigam. Dhand is being carefully and crispy edited by State Award Winner, Sujit Naik.

At the end, Lenard thanked the audience for turning up in large numbers and creating a record in Israel with this show, while also promising more shows in the future, which brought smiles on people's faces.

Its really impressive to see producers and directors of the southern india film industry making it big on the international forefront, goes to say that bollywood does not only share the hustle bustle but having visionaries in the field like Mr. Shodhan Prasad and others, people would be more insightful and productive when it comes to the art of stage and starring in movies. The dream of few less fortunate than others of becoming a star isnt just bagged by the 'lights and fame' of Bollywood but one can make it big even in sandalwood or tollywood. You either grow with the industry be successful or bank of the hope that one day the industry will make you big - which is selfish on aspiring artist. Dhand is a wonderful movie, the plot has unique twists and is quite the eye opener. The seed that is sown shall reap good harvest.
