Bengaluru: State govt goes into austerity mode, asks officials to travel by trains, cut costs

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jul 3: The state government, in a circular to departments, corporations and boards, has asked officials to cut costs in their expenditure and also sent suggestions on the implementation of the directive, such as not to use government vehicles unnecessarily.

"Come by train to Bengaluru and then use taxi here. When you go to New Delhi, use train and stay at Karnataka Bhavan. Use taxi only after reaching there." these are some of the suggestions made to deputy commissioners and ZP, CEOs.

"Do not use government vehicles during holidays. Fuel usage for vehicles should be cut by 20 percent this year as compared to last year.

"Do not buy equipment unnecessarily and only buy important equipment as per needs. Do not just buy and hoard things. They can be bought only for a particular month," the circular states.

"Postpone the purchase of photocopiers. Do not buy furniture and fixtures just because there is budgetary allocation. Do not buy materials, equipment or any other items at the end of financial year," the circular adds.

In short, the circular asks the public servants to tighten their belts in order to save for the state.

The original (humble, simple, austere, thrifty) great leaders of our country like Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri have been forgotten long, long ago.

At present, in our country, people in power prefer to totally forget that such people really existed.

Hope the rich moral values of our above great leaders are taught in our schools, so that the younger generation (our future leaders) will imbibe these values and put them into practice. Then only, we can really have a wonderful India, that all of us could be proud of.
    "Mera Bharat can be Mahaan".

New rules toask officials to travel by Trains instead of govt.vehicles,is not bad.first because of less co2in air ,second less cost, third, they will come to know the Problems of a normal man.and using govt vehicles during Holidays certainly not to be allowed. Here one Minister got into Trouble for using it.whether they care it is another question. Also Ministers, kindly give half an hour time late for your Termins from onwards.because Trains may delay or never appear.hHappy travel.

Economy measures are required to be adopted everywhere and not only in Govt. Departments etc.And on holidays let the family of the officers stay at home . They should not misuse the Govt. vehicle for marketing, touring elsewhere and going to see movies, molls etc.

It is good to know that state government goes into austerity mode and asks officials to travel by trains and cut costs in the best interest of saving the public money from unnecessary polling/spending. Here the question is who will strictly adhere to this government directives, orders?.Forget about travel by trains, they even hesitate to step into platform or some of them not even seen the platform so far in their life.
These orders of government will remain always on the papers and nobody bothers to implement it. Because it is not their hard earned money, it is public tax money. Why they have to bother so much on that petty issue?.If it was their hard earned money definitely they would have applied their mind while spending lavishly like what they do now?.These are all peanut for them. When they could amass so much of wealth during their tenure say as minister,MLA,MP or any other government's key posts, which will last for their generation to generation, why they have to bother about cutting costs?.
I appreciate our CM for the first time for passing an order at least. Following or not following, that is different issue. But our honorable chief minister has taken such a bold step to pass an order. Now the ball is in ministers, MLAs, MPs and all concerned authorities court. The next step of government will be hike in government employee’s travelling expense. Sufferers will always be the “Aam Public “especially poor and middle class people.

Nayakji, you will have to bring the New Delhi administration too in the list to attack. Do you know the crores being spent for Mr. Modi for his travel abroad? Can you specify the specific accomplishments and the amount of Foreign Direct Investment in India so far? If FDI is not arriving in India, then Mr. Modi's visits are going to be " vacation visits".
