Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Jul 3: Thieves broke into a builder's house at Konchady here on the evening of Saturday July 3 and decamped with Rs 18 lac cash.

The theft was allegedly committed by a man and a woman who had been hired by the builder a few days ago. They were assisted by at least four others. They are presently absconding.

Builder Narasimha Rao had placed an advertisement in a daily on June 22 seeking to hire a maid and a watchman. Thereafter, two persons, identified as Shiva (32) and Jyoti (22), who claimed to be from Dharwad, came to the builder's house seeking employment. They were hired. The builder even constructed an outhouse for them in his compound.

On Saturday evening, at around 4.30 pm, Rao and his family went to a relative's house. According to the CCTV images, at around 6.15 pm, Shiva and Jyoti broke into the house with four other persons including a woman.

It is learnt that the thieves first burnt down the door of the house and then broke it open with sharp tools.

The thieves decamped with Rs 18 lac in cash. They also looked for gold ornaments, but could not find them, sources said. Although there were six persons in the gang, only Shiva and Jyoti actually committed while the others abetted them, it is said.

As soon the incident came to light, Kavoor police along with a canine squad and fingerprint experts visited the spot and investigated.

Kavoor police have registered a case.

sad but it could have been avoided,by either keeping Money in bank so big amount,or a Person of confidence in house. The maid and "watchman"were still new, knew nothing about them and leaving house closed.Always better to hire a Person with references from previous employer ,where lot of valuables,or Money is there.A word to neighbours too to have a watch on new members in house ,when away might be Gold worth. How come no neighbours didnt get any unusual movement ?Hope they will catch the maid and watch man

Anybody newly employed, their photo and cell no should be taken by the employer. This helps the police to nab them. We can not trust anybody now.

This is how I tried to check new house maid..Our maid left job suddenly due to some domestic problem in her house...I was getting ready to return to Sharjah after vacation..Searching maid is a big problem..I asked my old friend Shamsu Bhai..He said " If you ask me to catch Lion and bring..I will bring, but Pls don't ask me about maid"..What to do ? Finally one Bijapuri middle aged lady came..Very first day my wife said "Two steel glasses are missing" ..I said "Ok..I will check and confirm "..I dropped Rs 50 currency note in one room and asked my wife and children not to enter the room till new maid finishes her work..When she left, I asked my wife to check whether Rs5O note lying there or not..My wife entered and came out running like a sprinter "IT IS MISSING".. Bijapur Maid was kicked out very 2nd day..Then after herculean task,we got one very good maid..Now it is more than 2 years..No Issue..

Prabhugale..My maid was Bijapuri..How can I blame Mangalore maid and why should I unnecessarily..I am not Kejri to blame someone without reason..One thing I noticed..I don't know whether you agree with me or not..Mangaloreans are less corrupt..Less lazy..Less backstabbers..less liars..Especially village people from Twin Districts are God fearing and innocent people..
