Mangaluru, Jul 4: Incessant rain over the last few days, triggered landslide at Kallarakodi, Konaje gram panchayat limits on Monday, July 4 which created a 15-feet deep crack. A family residing nearby had a lucky escape as the incident took place near their house.

The landslide occurred behind the house of Kallarakodi resident Sadashiva Devadiga. Agnes Lobo, a neighbour, heard sound of the landslide early morning on Monday July 4. As she found nothing suspicious around her house, she went up on the roof and saw the crack behind the house of Sadashiva. She immediately informed about it to Sadashiva’s wife Padmavathi.

Padmavathi usually washed utensils at the spot. She did her work there in the morning. However she was inside the house on Monday morning which saved her life. She had not noticed the collapse behind the house.

Sadashiva’s son Sharath had met with an accident a week ago and was in hospital. Sadashiva had gone to the hospital. Padmavathi was alone at home when landslide occurred.

Repairs work under the leadership of Konaje panchayat

The panchayat members worked together to fill the crack created by landslide. Hindus, Muslims and Christians joined hands and tried their best to save the house which is in danger.

Konaje panchayat president Shoukat Ali and BJP district working committee member Ravindra Shetty Ulidottu visited and helped in the operation.

cyril u r wright probably there was a well before ages, and it was not filled in properly or could be a cave underneath and in some places long years back they dig well and they could not get water, so they fill all garbage in that and eventually this will be the result!!
