St Peter's Association celebrates patron feast, annual day

Mumbai, Jul 5: St Peter's Association (Barkur) here, the city's well known association celebrated its patron feast and annual day on Sunday July 3 at Marol, Andheri. High mass at St Vincent Pallotti Church, parish priest Fr Paulo celebrated the festal Holy Mass on the occasion. A get-together was organised at the same church hall.




















Fr Ivan D’Almeida, assistant managing director of Fr Agnel’s Institute, Vashi (native of Barkur parish) was chief guest of the function. He appreciated the selfless service rendered by the Selfless Prograssive Association (SPA) to the community.
 
At the beginning president Boniface Sequeira, in his welcome speech appreciated the good work of the association members and requested to continue the same spirit in the future too. 

Eric Carvalho, secretary of the association  addressed the gathering  and informed about the activities carried out during the year 2015-16 and  requested  every Barkurian specially young people who are staying in Mumbai to become a member and  support the association in its growth. 

The association had formed an educational fund at the time of their sivler jubilee three years back. Around 5 children who scored high marks in SSC, HSC and post graduation were honoured with cash prizes and certificates.  Co-ordinator Ivan Rebello requested all the like-minded people to donate generously so that more children will be benefitted in the near future.

A tribute was given to the departed souls of the association members. Prominent businessmen Harry Rebello, Regi Carvalho, Benny Lewis, Franky Carvalho and St Peter’s Association’s former presidents Felix Barnes, Richard Carvalho and Peter Furtado were present. Around 150 people attended the function.
 
A Konkani music concert was staged by the committee members and their children. Jolvin Furtado proposed the vote of thanks. Joylan Fernandes compered the programme.  The function came to a close with delicious food arranged by the association.
