Mangaluru: Two youths accused in murder case feared drowned near Maravoor dam

Mangaluru, Jul 5: Two youths who went swimming in the river near Maravoor dam here on Tuesday July 5 are feared drowned.

The youths have been identified as Avinash (26) and Jason (24), both residents of Panjimogaru.

Police sources said that the two along with some friends had been to Kateel temple and then went to the river. Only Jason and Avinash jumped in while the others stayed back.

It is said that while the two were swimming, the currents pulled them away towards the deeper end.

Police sources also said the two were accused in the Bejai Raja murder case and had been to the police station to sign the register on Tuesday morning. 

It is also suspected that the duo had consumed alcohol before going to swim.

Bajpe police and fire service personnel arrived at the spot. Search is on to find the missing youths.

A case has been registered in Bajpe police station.
