Chitradurga, Jul 6: In a head-on collision between a private bus and car near Challakere which occurred on Tuesday July 5 afternoon, four occupants of the car were killed on the spot. Three more, including a bus passenger, suffered serious injuries.

The accident occurred near Durgammana Halla at Dyavaranahalli on Challakere - Pavagada road. The persons in the car were going to pay obeisance at Ganagatte Mayadevi temple at Ganagatte in Jagalur taluk, Davanagere district, from Channamma Nagathihalli in Challakere taluk when the tragedy took place.

Shashidhar (35), who was driving the car, his mother Eramma (55) Kariyanna (50), and Manjulamma (30), lost their lives in this accident. Yashodamma and Sharadamma, who were also in the car, are being treated in the district hospital here. All those travelling in the car were related to each other.

A bus passenger, identified as Nandeesh from Choulur was also injured in the accident. He was admitted into the government hospital here.
