Kundapur, Jul 6: Police took custody of another accused with regard to the robbery of jewellery after deadly assault on the owner of shop near main market at Kota on national highway here.

Kota police took the custody of Goa resident Prathamesh (21) from Goa police and are questioning him.

Out of three accused, Kota police had already taken into custody Chandrakanth from Goa police for questioning. The third accused is absconding in another state as per police sources.

Earlier, three youths entered Durga Jewellers at Kota on May 21 in the guise of customers and closed the shutters from inside. They later assaulted shop owner Ravindra Acharya with deadly weapons and robbed jewellery from the shop.

As Ravindra Acharya raised an alarm due to the assaults, the neighbouring shop keepers had opened the shutters and come to his rescue. The robbers then became alert. Two of them fled in the bike in which they had come. The third thief left his bike and ran on the street. The Yellow coloured bike with Goa number plate left by the robbers while in a hurry to flee and the pictures of robbers in CC Cameras of some of the Jewellery shops in Kundapur helped the police to intensify their search for the three.

All of them were wanted in a murder case in a Goa police station. While one of them was absconding, the remaining two were in the custody of Goa police.

The two accused are being questioned regarding the robbery.

Police have recovered jewellery worth Rs three lacs from the arrested robbers. Kota police have been able to solve the case to some extent.

A search is on for the third man. The successful operation was conducted by Kota police station inspector Kabbalraj and team consisting of Santhosh, Vishwanatha Kharvi, Suresh, Sathish Handadi, Jayanth and others on the direction by Brahmavar police circle inspector Arun B Nayak.
