Dubai: Paladka Wins Jossy Cardoza Memorial Cricket Cup

Dubai, Nov 17: ‘Udentichim Neketram’ The Moodbidri Varado Catholic Association, a blend of talents once again proved its landmark ability in flocking together the Sports Brilliants of its 12 Parishes by conducting a Cricket Tournament which was held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at Al Safa Open Ground, Dubai, U.A.E.



The Tournament commenced with a prayer followed by the inauguration of the match at 10.00 hrs. As announced, the Tournament was exclusively for the Moodbidri Varado Parishes and there were 8 Teams representing Taccode, Hospet, Paladka, Siddakatte, Moodbidri, Sampige, Belvai and Shirtady. The Parishes Anegudde, Gantalkatte, Alangar & Vamadapadavu stayed out and did not take part in the match due to inadequate number of players.


Tournament was formally inaugurated by the Association President Arun D’Costa Hospet and the Sports Secretary Richard Saldanha Sampige. There was a special message from Gurkar Eric Ozherio Bab who presided as the Surprise Guest from Mangalore for the event. Tournament was concluded with a vote of thanks by Arun D’Costa at 18.30 hrs.





Prizes of Honors were distributed by Rudolf Sanctis Sampige, Melwin Cardoza Taccode. Mr.Henry D’Souza of Life Water, Dubai and Mr.Phillip & Leena Albuquerque of Grand Home Real Estate, Dubai were the part of the event as they were the co-sponsors of the Tournament.

The Shields for both rolling trophies were accompanied with cash prizes and the eight Trophies have been given out to the winners & the runners, the details are as under:










Prizes for the Winners

1) Udentichim Neketram Jossy Cardoza Memorial Rolling Trophy – Winners Trophy - Paladka Team – Capt. Deepak D’silva.
2) Rudolf Sanctis & Family Sponsored Rolling Trophy – Runners Up Trophy - Taccode Team – Capt. Melwin Cardoza.
3) Man of the match – Austin Mascarenhas Paladka
4) Man of the series – Vicent D’Costa Taccode
5) Best bowler – Merwin Pinto Taccode
6) Best Fielder – Prem shirtady
7) Super Six of the Tournament – Prakash Shirtady
8) Best Batsman – Simon Aranha Paladka


Premus Rosario Tokkottu, Calvin & Canan Bijai did the officiating of the match. Commentary in English, Hindi, Konkani and Tulu languages were done by  Praveen Sequiera Siddakatte, Richard Saldanha Sampige, Lawrence Cardoza Belvai and Maxim D’Souza Taccode. The scoring was done by Rajesh Suares, Mulki.

The event was conducted and diciplined by the joint effort of Rajesh Alvares, Praveen Sequiera, Ullas Fernandes, Vinay Pinto and Vincent Pinto led by Deepak D’Silva.
