Udupi, Jul 10: As the water that should flow in the drains flows on the road, large potholes are found everywhere in the city here.

People are unhappy with artificial floods which are seen soon after the arrival of monsoons. When the water recedes, due to inaccuracies in drainage facilities, the water that should flow in the drains can be seen flowing on the road.

The corporation officials who are indifferent have only shown their irresponsibility without taking any proper measure.

While the roads were repaired, the drainage pits were left as they were. Therefore the difference in height between the road and drainage pits has increased developing potholes over the years. As the potholes are filled with water during monsoons, they cause accidents besides spoiling vehicles.

The waste water due to blocked drainage pits flows on the road in Gundibail, Ambagilu, corporation road, Puttur and other wards in corporation limits. The stagnant water on the road and in the potholes can breed mosquitoes spreading Dengue, Malaria etc.

Waste water had stagnated in front of a house in Gundibail and a person in the house had to undergo Malaria treatment.

Corporation should wake up now and close potholes, drainage pits and make the rain water flow in the drains without hindrance, so that vehicle drivers may drive their vehicles and people can walk without fear in the future.

This need to be repaired and corrected on priority to keep away the casualties and the concerned contractor who built the road to be fixed with accountability.
