Udupi, Jul 11: This road is a one-way. Two ‘no entry’ boards can be seen on the entrance of the road from one side. Still, vehicle drivers seldom care about these two boards which are clearly visible and enter the road. That is because of the habit followed for years. They know nobody is going to stop them.

The road is in Kadubettu in Ajjarakad ward here. This road which connects Brahmagiri through Sicily school is very narrow. That is why the traffic department made this road one-way. But if the vehicles obey the boards, they have to use a longer route, so they use this shortcut. People who come from the other side face problems due to this don't-give-a-damn attitude.

The traffic police who are aware of the problem have not been visiting this place. Instead they have turned a blind eye. They have never fined anyone for violating the 'no entry' rule. As in most cases, this too will perhaps take an accident to wake up the authorities.

This is not about only one road. Most of the 'no entry' roads are being violated on a regular basis, but the traffic department seems to be blissfully unaware.
