Dubai, Jul 11: Pius James D'Souza, the multifaceted personality from Barkur parish has been elected the new president of 'Karaval Milan' which is celebrating its 16th successful year of community service to culture and sports along with social causes.
Pius James D'Souza has been an active member of the Daiji Dubai literary forum and has published poetry under the pen name 'PJ Karugalnade' in prominent Konkani magazines and online publications. His writings have been critically acclaimed.

'Nimani Sairik', an anthology of his poems was released in the year 2008. He is also a successful stage actor who has acted in various plays over the years, both in India and abroad. He also has a black belt in Karate and his fitness belies his age.
His wife Alice D'Souza, who he considers as his pillar of strength, is a teacher at Maryknoll Primary High School, Barkur. His elder son Alston D'Souza, is pursuing his BE at St Joseph Engineering College in Mangaluru while his younger son Preston D'Souza, is a student of Little Rock School, Brahmavar.
In his acceptance speech, Pius D'Souza profusely thanked the outgoing president Naveen D'Souza (Kolalgiri parish) and the secretary Prakash Baretto (Kundapur parish) for their yeoman service to Karaval Milan and for making it a more cohesive unit.
He will be primarily assisted in his duties by the new soft-spoken secretary of Karaval Milan, Alban D'Souza, who hails from Trasi parish.

Alban is currently a lay minister in St Mary's Catholic Church in Dubai which is the largest parish in the world.
He is known for his hard work, perseverance and for getting things done on time behind the scenes and is averse to publicity.
