Bengaluru: BJP demands reinstatement of Anupama Shenoy

Bengaluru, Jul 11: The Opposition BJP demanded reinstatement of the former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy into the police force as the latter was "compelled" to tender her resignation due to political pressures, especially from former Minister P T Parameshwara Naik and other senior police officers.

The issue figured in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Monday during the discussion on the recent suicide of DySP Ganapati.

BJP Opposition leader in the State Assembly JagadishShettar demanded that Shenoy should be reinducted into the police force as the State police badly needed such "honest and upright officers."

Former Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashok too supported the demand.

Shenoy resigned from the service alleging harassment from the then Ballari district-in-charge minister P T Parameshwara Naik and senior police officers.

Raising the issue in the legislative Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar and R Ashok alleged that the government has not made efforts to protect the honest officer in the police force.

    On what grounds BJP demands Ms. Anupama Shenoy’s reinstatement? They can demand her reinstatement if she was suspended. Here she had resigned voluntarily and with dignity for reasons well known. Now BJP can take up this issue during elections.

    If she is reinstated then it is very difficult for her to survive. She has to follow the same method as Ganapathi did. She would be tortured, harassed and what not.

    Now, why BJP is pressurizing for reinstatement of A. Shenoy? Is that they pressurized her to resign earlier promising her BJP ticket?
    BJP has most probably played a dirty trick earlier.
    Why State Govt. should reinstall her as she had not followed protocol whilst resigning. That itself shows she was not a very "DISCIPLINED" Police officer. Moreover she was unavailable for discussion following her resignation....
    Government can not give in, in such pressure tactics from anyone.
    In Ganapathi's case too some political party is playing the fool.
    These BJP are like a pack. Whenever they see a bone of contention they are are there in packs, howling...disturbing the peace. They should be booked for disturbing the peace...every time they are on the road (Mostly they are there only)
    Best suggestion to A.Shenoy is approach court and try to get a reprieve from her own self inflicted punishment, owning her mistake to resign.

    This is true mockery of the public service department. She herself resigned even after government asked her not do so. They even sent few officers to convince her but she was adamant. she said she would join NGO etc. now what happened? I was really admiring her till then that she has done right thing by not bowing her head to the politicians. Now? she too came under party umbrella? Very Sad.

    I think Brashta Janara Party want one more "Suicide Trump Card" to play in the Assembly. Now everybody knew about Anupama's case whether it was true or false. If any (God forbid)unfortunate things happened to her, Sanghis can use that card for the next assembly election. So it is easy for Chaddis,to pressurize her to take extreme step for their betterment. Brashta Janara Party and their leader like Yeddy & DAKU will go any extents to GRAB the power.BTW how Yeddy's wife died? Is that Suicide, Murder or Accident?

    Anupama Shenoy did not want the job ,even though government and police department wanted her not to resign. She was playing hide and seek and now she has gone to BJP wanting her job back. Was this a ploy by BJP first ask her to resign and then pretend that they are fighting for a honest officer?
    With her past credentials of ABVP and her family members who are active BJP members , this is a political game by BJP.

    Her meeting with RSS functionary in Mangalore, makes her case very weak. Now no one will trust her as her actions as police officer was apolitical, honest and constitutional. If she restrained from meeting any politician, that would have given a great credibility to her resignation.

    I guess some BJP MLA ticket aspirants have complained to BJP high command, not to give MLA ticket to Madam Anupama to contest in next election. So, what else... send he back to duty!

    By the way, Police officers in the state are harassed by Govt in the state (as per Besharam Jumlawadis Partymen), they why they want Madam Anupama to be harassed again?
