Bengaluru, Jul 12: The investigation being conducted by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into single number lottery scam that had shaken the state a year back, is nearing completion. Sources claim that the investigation has cleared Alok Kumar of the allegation of having links with kingpin of the scam, Parirajan.

It is being claimed that the investigating team could not get any evidences or proof against Alok Kumar in the case. At present, Alok Kumar has been functioning as inspector general of police of Karnataka police training department.

Parirajan had been arrested on April 30 last year from a house in BEML Layout at Kolar Gold Fields. There had been charges that senior police officers were hand in glove with the operatives of this scam. Alok Kumar had been initially suspended for his alleged links with Parirajan.

After the scam came into the open, Alok Kumar had claimed before the media that Parirajan happened to be his well-wisher. The case was handed over to CBI by the government in the last week of May, 2015. It is being claimed that while CBI could gather records for Alok Kumar's contacts with Parirajan, they did not get any material evidence to prove the police officer's role in lottery scam.

In the meanwhile, as there has been delay in filing of charge sheet, the high court has granted bail to Parirajan, and he has been released.
