Mangalore, Nov 18: The members of the elite Eden Club located in the city near Padua High School, Nanthoor celebrated the 12th year ‘Diwali Dhamaka Nite’ as part of their annual Deepavali celebrations here on Saturday, November 17 night.

The show which began at 8 pm in the evening, was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp in front of the idol of Lord Ganesha by the Eden Club trustees Eugene Rent, Benita Rent, Capt N P Hegde, Manjari Bhargava, Capt V P F Pais and eye surgeon Dr Sujir, who graced the occasion with their august presence.

More than a thousand well-dressed crème-de- la crème residents of the city including members and their guests enjoyed the spectacular event. The participants in the course of the event witnessed a dazzling sky display of electronics crackers along-with a wide variety of music and songs belted out by an enterprising band.
This kept the sporting crowds from age six to sixty on their feet, dancing away to glory. Face painting, Nair art and nail tattooing were the special features of this year’s celebration.

According to the committee members, Sudha Shetty and Manjari Bhargava the main purpose behind organizing this gala event was to foster a sense of unity amongst all communities. In-fact they proudly declared that their club comprised of members from all religions and this event was thoroughly enjoyed by all irrespective of their religion, caste or creed.

Further according to them Eden Club members celebrated this event after Deepavali festival ends, especially on the first Saturday as during the actual festival people are too busy in their homes partaking in pooja and other religious functions. Hence by keeping it later, they are ensuring that all communities can come together and celebrate the festival of lights and thereby foster a sense of brotherhood amongst all.

Also during the event, the Eden “Deepavali’ committee members organized a wide variety of theme game shows for the gathering. Towards the later part of the evening the crowds went berserk dancing to the Dandiya, Bhangra, Baila and Pop music beats. Naushad and group led the orchestra, which greatly boosted the enthusiasm of the participants.
