Udupi: Five children from Rajasthan stopped from begging on road

Udupi, Jul 13: Five children from Rajasthan origin were taken into custody with the help of different government officials on Tuesday July 12 here. Later, they were admitted into Balamandira, a children rehabilitation centre.

After obtaining information from children welfare committee, the officials of children’s protection unit, department of labour and zilla Balakarmika Yojana Sangha took into custody the children who were begging in the city.

The children, along with their parents were found weeping after purposely falling and rolling on the road to create a scene when they were stopped from begging.

There were seven people belonging to two families who were begging in city. Two of them were infants. Among them, three were grown up children.

The authorities took the children and a woman into custody and admitted them into Balamandira in Nitturu.

    Good Action from officials.It is not enough to put them in Balamandira or ashrams.Hope they will be educated too.Take their Fingerprints so that in future they run out and start their Business again.They earn am sure good by begging than working.Who knows at night might go stealing where they during the day looked out.It is a gang work.sad They make children to beg than send to School.where do they stay at night?sleep on road side?Children must have got afraid and thought they will be now thrashed by People and started crying.what a pity to see them in this Situation.But should nt give them any Money ,instead ask them to workand promise to pay them(for adults).Otherside we dont have enough places for such children or adults ,to send them in ashrams.

    Nice work by Mangalore authorities. Using kids for begging is offense by Indian law. Also children might not belong to them as well. Authorities should take strict action against persons who are using kids for such acts. Civilians also should report to child care committee if they come across any child begging on the road.

    Appreciate the efforts of our Government officials to curb street urchins in the city of Mangalore .The city looks splendid with good roads,neat and clean streets with empty garbage skips at day break.That is and should be the spirit of Mangaloreans.

    right action taken by our kudla people. Well done!! highly appreciated. no child should be encouraged to beg and if first case is stopped it will not multiply. child begging is a racket where mafia use children to beg infants are given hafim or some other drug so that they sleep throughout the ordeal becos of this their liver is damaged. we think we are doing charity but indirectly we are helping mafia to kidnap and misuse children. The best way is to stop giving money to children begging so that mafia will stop bringing children to beg and the income will be stopped. "Na rahegi baas na bajegi basoori." The children need to be seen that they are properly rehabilitated and do not become victims once again.

    This is the result of our softness towards north Indian migrants. Now they make good business bringing their kids for begging and our people also giving handful to them encouraging bring more and more beggars to karnataka and kerala.
