Madikeri, Jul 14: "I have no expectation of getting justice from either the criminal investigation department (CID) probe or the judicial probe expected to be ordered by the government. At the same time, we demand for the judicial probe to be conducted by either Justice Santosh Hegde of Justice Venkatachalaiah, both of whom are retired judges," said DySP Ganapati's wife, Pavana.

Addressing a press conference at Kushalnagar in the district on Tuesday July 13, Pavana said that she will be writing to prime minister, Narendra Modi, complaining against the Congress government in the state. She accused the state government of dithering in the matter of taking action against those who were responsible for the death of Ganapati, who had served state police department efficiently and diligently.

"Chief minister, Siddaramaiah, is not registering case against minister George, and two senior officers of the police department who caused the death of my husband. CID team, instead of recording my statement, prepared a report at their own whims and fancies and the home minister read out a report in the assembly that was an insult to me," she alleged.

She stated that the entire family is solidly backing her in this issue and that she draws courage and confidence to complain to the prime minister based on this moral support.

Did CM mislead house?

Some sources pointed out that contrary to chief minister, Siddaramaiah's claim in the house on Wednesday that DySP, Ganapati, had not worked under inspector general of police, Pranab Mohanty, Ganapati had in fact worked under Mohanty twice. When Mohanty was the joint commissioner (west) and additional police commissioner in Bengaluru, Ganapati had worked in Yeshwantpur and Madiwala police staions as inspector. When Mohanty was working as additional police commissioner (crime), Ganapati was working in Madiwala station, it is gathered.

During the encounter death of a rowdy named Prashant alias Pachchi at Yeshwantpura in 2010, Pranab Mohanty had investigated the allegation that it was a fake encounter. The case had then gone to Lokayukta, by which time Mohanty had been transferred to Lokayukta. During the controversial murder of rector, Fr Thomas, within Yeshwantpura station limits, Ganapati was inspector of Yeshwantpur station while Mohanty was joint police commissioner, it is gathered.

Some claim that misleading the assembly is tantamount to breach of privilege.

George summoned by high command

It is learnt that in the light of political upheavals in the state, Congress high command has asked minister, K J George, to come to New Delhi. As per information, he is leaving to meet the leaders on Thursday morning.

The name of the city development minister, K J George, has emerged prominently in the suicide case of deputy superintendent of police, Ganapati. Opposition parties, who have been demanding to drop George from the ministry, have undertaken round the clock dharna in the legislature. This has come as an embarrassment both for the party and its government in Karnataka.

Although the high command has been briefed about the development, the top leaders want to get explanations from George personally before taking a decision in the matter, highly placed sources in the party said.
