Ghaziabad municipality extends limits, hikes minimum wages


Ghaziabad, July 14 (IANS): The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation, in its board meeting on Thursday, passed 94 proposals including on expansion of municipal limits and on raising the minimum salaries to Rs 15,000 per month.

Mayor Ashu Verma told journalists after the meeting that the municipal corporation limits have been expanded to include about half a dozen new localities and villages would be included in the municipal limits. The new inducted villages included Mohiddinpur Kinaoni which till now is the part of Gautambudh Nagar and is situated in the heart of Indirapuram, as well as Morti, Bhovapur, Ator Nangla and Mohan Pur.

The board also cleared the minimum wages for contractual workers to Rs 15,000. 

On the controversial handover of Avantika residential colony, a committee headed by the chief engineer has been set up and will soon submit its report. Another committee of five councillors has also been instituted to induct peripheral villages of Avantika colony. 

A school for girls in Bhovapur has also been cleared by the board, added Verma.
