Opposition Dharna continues over Ganapati suicide in Assembly, Council

Bengaluru, Jul 15: The Opposition BJP and JD(S) members, who staged a night-long dharna in the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Bangalore Development Minister K J George over the suicide of Mangaluru Deputy Superintendent of Police M K Ganapati, continued their protest for the entire day on Thursday. Members of both opposition parties resorted to dharna in the Legislative Council on Thursday, and in the process forced the adjournment of both houses of State Legislature.

However, the Siddaramaiah regime introduced some legislative bills despite the dharna and protests by the Opposition members.

The day began with the Opposition parties in the Lower House continuing their dharna in the Assembly to press their demand for the resignation of George and also insisting on a CBI probe in the entire episode as the DySP had alleged in a television interview hours before ending his life that the then Home Minister, DGP PranobMohanty and IGP Intelligence A M Prasad must be held responsible if anything were to happen to him.

As the Assembly met, BJP and JD(S) members entered the well of the House and shouted slogans against the Siddaramaiah Government after staging the overnight dharna, which they had launched yesterday, rejecting the judicial probe announced by the Chief Minister during his reply to the debate on the issue.

Refusing to give in to the BJP’s demand for a CBI probe, Siddaramaiah had said the case would be probed by a judicial commission headed by a retired High Court judge, even while dismissing the call for George’s resignation, saying there was not even an iota of evidence against him.

Slamming State Government’s decision to hand over the inquiry to a judicial commission and not to drop George, Opposition BJP LeaderJagadishShettar said, “the government is insensitive and arrogant.”

Shettaralleged that honest officials had no security under the Congress government and demanded to know why Siddaramaiah was showing “special affection” towards George.

Ganapathy (51) was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room at a lodge in Madikeri on July 7, prior to which he gave an interview to a local TV channel, saying the minister and A M Prasad (IG—Intelligence) and Pranab Mohanty (IGP—Lokayukta) would be responsible “if anything happens to me.”

Intervening as opposition continued its protest, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said a judicial inquiry has been ordered and one has to wait for its findings.

As the ruckus continued, Speaker K B Koliwad adjourned the house for some time.

When the House met later, the unrelenting Opposition members continued with their protest shouting slogans “George go back“.

Amidst the din, the Speaker allowed Ministers to table four bills, even as Shettar objected to this, citing that the House was not in order to conduct proceedings.

Once the bills were tabled, the Speaker adjourned the House for lunch and called floor leaders for a meeting.

The Karnataka Legislative Council was also adjourned till tomorrow, following a similar protest and dharna by the Opposition BJP and JD(S).

Even though I'm not interested in any political party, as a true Indian i will definitely say this is a purely a political stunt by the opposition. What kind of luxury style protest is this? Looks like opposition is enjoying & having a picnic. Opposition is not bothered about justice for DySP Ganapti or DySP Kallappa.
If really bothered, then collect information as to why DySP gave TV interview after getting promotion & not when suspended, why he was found hanging when he had fully loaded gun if the intention was to commit suicide.
He had taken permission to keep revolver with him as he had life threat, the sources informed CID.
When Opposition was in power they didn't believe in CBI. Not only that, DySP Ganapati was suspended when opposition was in power. But he got posting when Congress is in power. Ganapati was not at all in touch with Pranab Mohanty, AM Prasad & KJ Geroge as per records, the sources said.
We the true Indians can read between the lines. Looks like this protest is a preparation to come into power in the next elections. Please maintain peace in the society & allow any government to work in an efficient manner. Work for the right cause to come into limelight.

Last time, it was John (again an outsider to Karnataka) who helped BJP by saying communal things. He said Gujarath earthquake was 'revenge' by Jesus for church stoning.

This time it is George who is providing material to BJP through his communalism and power mongering.

I'm no supporter or relation of KJ George nor a fan of Siddu. But in this case, I feel CM is right. What's the evidence against George? A statement by DySP to TV channel? That too hours before committing suicide. Is there any other proof? SC has held that even "dying declaration " shud'nt be accepted blindly & must be proved with independent evidence. In such a case, did Ganapathy make a "dying declaration"? Why should George resign? These BJP guys are shedding crocodile tears. What did they do in Padmapriya case or Halappa rape episode or nurse Jayalakshmi case? How did the wife of a top leader die while cleaning cooking vessels?were CBI case ordered or did anybody resign? Leaders went to jail in different cases. Anupama Shenoy Was egged on to resign. What about her case now? Don't trust these FEKUS!

    You are 100% right.
One simple logic, after that interview to TV channel, why didn't fans of DySp MKG, stop him from committing suicide?
What effort his wife made to stop him committing suicide?
Why his fans, Wife didn't help him when he was distressed? Why didn't he find solace?
Why only after his death all show of sympathy?
In reality, even that is not apparent from jovial pictures of these agitating people.
They only want to take political mileage from his death.

Under your theory, Naresh Shenoy may also ask the same question? He may argue, Vinayaka Baliga also never said any threat from me. Hence, your theory is dangerous.

So, in any case, arrest the suspects and do enquiry. If proven not guilty, leave him with full honor. Otherwise, hang the accused. This should be applicable to all religion, caste, party, gender....

Why no dharna over the suicide of Kallappa Handibag ?
Khandya Praveen (S/o- Keshava Bhat) who was responsible for the suicide of Kallappa is a Bajarangi, and now he is hiding in the house of Thogadia as Thogadia used to stay in the house of Khandya Bhat whenever he came to Chikamagalur. Khandya had many illegal activities by which he used to earn at least Rs.2 lakhs per month sitting at home. His partner Naveen Shetty was in Cricket betting racket and he is from Mangalore. So he had cricket betting racket in MGL also.

See the pictures of elected representatives of people.
Inside the assembly, agitation over suicide of DySp MKG and thereafter laughter and playful mood.
Didn't do anything sensible while he was alive in depression.
Now wasting working hours continually, not at all serious or concerned about anything.
This is the reason why India is still backward.

Yes. How the are laughing, enjoying, making jokes and yoga, having good food and peaceful sleep and no mourning in favour of Ganapathy. Their only intention is to topple the congress government. But inspite of all their efforts George will not give resignation. Where were these people when this Ganapathy tortured catholic women, children and nuns and priests who were praying inside the church silently.
