The proclamation and dedication of St. Lawrence Church at Karkal as a Minor Basilica is a message that has to be gratefully accepted. It is a message from St. Lawrence himself so that his worshippers will gather more and more worshippers to visit the Basilica and spend a certain precious time in prayer and meditation.

We visited St.Lawrence few years ago as a pure coincidence after visiting the famous statue of "Gomateshwara" along with two of our American tourist friends. We mentioned about the St. Lawrence Church to our lady Tour guide, and Hindu by faith, and she was totally unaware of the beautiful church that was located just fifteen minutes drive. We visited the church while the liturgical services were in process, and it was a pleasure to witness a wonderful choir with a church full of worshippers attending the services. Then we also visited the well close by, and also passed by the dining place with a nice flavor of lunch being served free of charge.

Our next visit will be during the feast of St. Lawrence so that we can witness the services and pray for all our intentions.

Let the Tourist groups in and around Mangalore made aware of the Declaration and Proclamation because they ought to know the fact. Let a bus load of tourists from the Cruise Line touching New Mangalore Port so that they make a scenic road trip to Karkal and witnesss St Lawrence Church as well as the Statue of Gomateshwara as well as the nearby Temple.
