Daijiworld Media Network - Bhatkal

Bhatkal, Jul 17: In an alleged attempt to disturb peace in the taluk, miscreants on Sunday July 17 placed a packet of meat in the premises of Naga Jataga Chowdi Temple at Koktinagar here. Police have stepped up security to prevent further trouble.

The packet was discovered by temple priest Honnayya Sannu Gonda when he came to the temple at the usual time to perform puja at the Nagabana. He then informed the others. Police rushed to the spot and seized the meat and sent it for testing to a lab in Mangaluru.

As soon as the news spread, leaders and activists of Sangh Parivar and the BJP gathered at the spot and expressed their ire over the incident.

"Such incidents aimed at hurting the sentiments of Hindus in Bhatkal have happened in the past also, but the police have not caught the culprits till date. This has encouraged the miscreants. The police should be alert in these matters," they urged.

The protestors, along with the temple priest, then proceeded to Shamsuddin circle and marched in procession to the police station, where they lodged a complaint urging action against the culprits.

Krishna Naik Arsikeri, Sunil B Naik, Mukund Naik, Ravi Naik Jali, Deepak Naik, Krishna Naik Hurulisala, Keshava Naik and others were present.

Bhatkal town police have registered a case and investigations are on.

SP visits spot

Superintendent of police (SP) Vamshi Krishna along with ASP Dr Anup Shetty, DySP Pramod Rao arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation. It is learnt that the SP has already discussed about forming a special team to trace the culprits.

Meanwhile, minister R V Deshpande and MLA Mankal Vaidya condemned the incident and after gathering information from the SP, issued directions to the police to take appropriate action in the case, sources said.

The Priest could have easily ignored and avoided the issue by discarding it away. Since Priest are considered in high respect, I feel the Priest could have handled wisely and by not spreading. Since Priest are revered highly, it would have set a good example by keeping the matter to himself.By doing thisYes, his noble intention will be hidden to public, but would have placed high regards in front of the Creator. Since the actual job of the Priest is to guide people and avoid conflicts and live in harmony.

This not only applies to Temple Priest, but also the Maulvis when they come across such incidents like Pork in the yard around Mosques.

Best way to deal is to avoid and ignore so that the actual Culprit feels ashamed of him self.

Sure. You should lead by example as always. Next time if some miscreants throw stone at the church windows or alter or cowardly throw petrol bomb in the night next morning your priest should call some locals and just clean up the mess and forgive the trouble makers than making noise gathering people, Bishop leading a delegation to SP, HM and CM (not PM this time) , candle light March etc etc etc. We will definitely follow the path set.

SB, there's a difference between throwing meat and stones/petrol bombs. Stop reasoning and think logically. Does meat affect the same way as stones and bombs? I was only saying about meat issue. Yes, breaking windows and damaging structures is a serious offense and needs to be informed. But there are certain issues which can be resolved without any conflict.
If you run out of Petrol in your Car/find excrete of a bird will you shout and inform everyone about it? No. But if someone has broken the window or dashed your car then you would inform the Authority isn't it.

Why do you think a window just costing 50 rs is big issues. Church Priest can easily replace the broken window with another window .
You should think logically and type.
Let say tomorrow in front of Church God's idol a dead fish meat is placed . Can we expect same comment from you.

Just for sake of comment don 't type whatever you like in this forum .

Exactly, matter would have solved without any troubles like this if Priest ignored this. Also those who are doing it would think it a waste of time, Money and the fear to attempt this work, thinking people are not bothered about this.

This issue has ulterior motives to create polarization in order to vitiate atmosphere in favour political party which propagate communal violence.

In the past we have seen temples and Mosques being targeted.

I would request Muslim brothers to join Hindus clearing and purification and reciprocate the act from Hindus as well.

This is the only way we demoralise the fanatic elements who make their earning devising citizens.

We kannadigas don't want Godhra or Muzzafarnagar in the land of Gandhada Gudi.

We cannot blame a particular community for this as the culprits may belong to any community.Whoever they are, their intention is to disturb the peace between two communities. We have witnessed this in Sindagi where Ramasene hoisted Pakistani flag to create communal tension. Police must nab the culprits without any delay.

The placing of meat may be on both sides/ways/parties.

The VHP and BD might have brought and kept the meat in the temple to accuse the other side.

The some Muslim fundamental organizations also might have kept as a tit for tat.

CANNOT RULE OUT WHICH PARTY HAS DONE THIS HEINOUS ACT.
