Udupi: Fishing boat sinks off Malpe coast- one dies, 9 safe

Udupi, Jul 19: A fishing boat sank off the coast of Malpe near here and one person died as a result on the morning of Tuesday, July 19.

Annayya (50) is the person deceased.

10 fishermen had left Malpe in the morning for fishing in a boat. When the boast was around two kilometres off the coast in the sea near Badanidiyuru, the boat reportedly sank due to bad weather conditions. 9 persons swam to the coast while one died.

The dead body has been retrieved and taken to the hospital.

Malpe police have registered a case.

    fishing is banned till September, bcoz this is the breeding season. book these illegal fisherman, dont pay insurance/compensation
