Bengaluru, Jul 19: Udupi- Chikkamagaluru constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Shobha Karandlaje has been sent notice by the state High Court for giving false information on the money she spent during the last Lok Sabha election.

Single judge bench headed by Justice S Abdul Nazir delivered the verdict on Monday July 18, after hearing the application filed by Anoop Kumar Shetty, a Nilavar Udupi resident.

Anoop had complained to the Central Election Commission on December 19, 2014 saying Shobha Karandlaje had given wrong information regarding the expenses incurred during the Lok Sabha election of 2014 where she stood as BJP candidate in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency and won.

Anoop mentioned in the complaint that Shobha had breached the section 10 of Representation of People Act of 1951 by filing wrong information on the expenses incurred for her election. He had demanded her expulsion as MP based on the offense committed. But the Election Commission chose to ignore the complaint and did not take any action on the same. After that Anoop had approached the state High Court with the same complaint.
