Mangaluru: Chance now for J R Lobo or Ivan D’Souza to be minister?

Daijiworld Media Network-Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Jul 19: Presently there are two vacancies in the cabinet of chief minister Siddaramaiah after K J George resigned on Monday July 18 as minister after the Madikeri court directed the police to file FIR against him in relation to the suicide of DySP Ganapati.

One ministerial berth was not filled during the cabinet reshuffle recently and that post is reserved for a Vokkaliga, it is learnt. There are presently four contenders to this post. C P Yogeshwar from Channapattna, Dr Sudhakar from Chikkaballapur, Narendra from Hanoor and M Krishnappa from Vijayanagara are the candidates for this one Vokkaliga reserved vacancy in the cabinet.

Another vacancy created by George’s exit is reserved for a Christian candidate. There are only two contenders for this post and both are from Mangaluru city. MLA J R Lobo from Mangaluru South and nominated MLC and chief whip in Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza are these two members. J R Lobo is senior by age and experience in administration with bureaucratic background. Ivan D’Souza is younger by age but has more political experience.

J R Lobo is more preferred as Ivan has been made chief whip recently, some sources said. But taking into account Ivan’s proximity to the chief minister, he can also be made a minister. But then Lobo has to be accommodated somehow with a position. He can be made a chairman of some corporation and board in that case.

    Siddu Must take his own decision and no pressure to be applied on Siddu.A nonpolitical Christian leader with honesty, Fairness is needed. He need to be friend of normal Christians. He need to be fair to other communities too and not portray community card always! .Siddu must start consulting right Christian people before giving this position and not get mislead by so called coteri of few who may want to twist in their favour . There are many capable hands in Christians who deserve this position.

    Ivan is for publicity and putting his photo banners everywhere as if he has done some extraordinary achievement in Mangalore. No performance and free publicity.Case should be booked against Ivan for placing plastic flex banners without MCC permission.It looks shabby and dirty. Where is his Civic sence. ? What can he do if u make him Minister? Dear Ivan, pls remove all your unauthorized roadside banners. Or else we will demand copy of payment receipt from MCC. J R Lobo know s decency. Also person of self respect and zero corruption.

    Don't I think both are well deserved candidates as a minister. One is having experience taming animals in pilkula and another auto rickshaw chalkas. In what basis these people allocate ministry..on merit or on religion.
    Best option..why not all ministers do mass resignation and give chance for others. Reason behind by which..people's money will also utilise in right way by appointing appropriate party which needed at this hour. As you all aware..who else is best choice apart from yeddyji..as a chief minister..and shobhaji as a home minister.

    @Prakash
    This is called inclusive governance. In a democratic set up, minorities are to be included in the governement even by appointing them simply because they will not win the election unless majority vote for them. This is the beauty of democracy. Why did Afghan fall after establishing the democracy? Ruling party refused to include Sunni Muslims in governance despite pressure from USA.

    Ivan and Lobo both are efficient candidates. I don't know much about Ivan but Lobo will rise to the expectations of many. He should have been appointed as Minister without reservation quota for his administrative experience with honesty, integrity, hard work and humbleness.

    Inclusive governance in a democratic world has to be based on merits and education but in India it works other way round.govt jobs to politics hardly opportunities are and we're given to Christians Evan though they were qualify to perform. Biased and discriminations at all levels made few Christians in politics and govt jobs. Most Christians has contributed to the society generously but govt jobs and political life has not favoured them. All went to middle east or west to work and made life successful and contributions made to India.here we debate ministers pity on people

He never differentiates between Hindus, Christians and Muslims. J R Lobo is a man of character and high ethics. His rich experience as a Senior KAS officer would definitely help Karnataka State.Even BJP leaders are liking his good virtues. If one could see, the changes in Mangalore City properly, almost every important road has been made Concrete. He got wonderful plans for city development. Ivan is a seasoned politician. He knows the art of speaking more!!!. So he is fit to be the Chief Whip. Let J R Lobo be given a chance to be the Minister. It is good for Mangalore, Karnataka and the society at large.
