Mangaluru, Jul 19: "The state government will give a free cylinder to every household in urban areas in the state, in addition to the single subsidized cylinder," said U T Khader, minster for food and civil supplies.

Addressing media persons here on Tuesday July 19, he said, "Normally, most households switch to kerosine till the end of the month once the cylinder becomes empty. Hence, to avoid that, households in the urban areas will get an additional cylinder every month. In rural areas, if they do not require the cylinder they can opt for two solar lights."

Drinking water purification units in Mangaluru constituency

The minister also said that drinking water purification units will be set up in every village of the Mangaluru constituency with a population of 1,000. "Every household can buy water by paying Rs 10 for 20 litres.

"Every household will be given 20 litres per day just for drinking purpose. A large purification unit will cost Rs 10 lac and a moderate-sized unit will be cost Rs 7.5 lac. This project will be implemented under public private partnership (PPP) model, with KRIDL being the private player which will implement the project. A few of the units will be completed soon and will start dispensing purified water within a month.

Rs 8 crore for beach development

Khader further said that various various beaches in the constituency will be developed under the state tourism development scheme. "Rs 3,33,33,000, Rs 1,89,00,000 and Rs 3,00,00,051 have been allotted to Someshwar, Ullal and Talapady beaches. This sum will be utilized to develop the connecting roads, pedestrian seating, walkway, highmast lights, resting sheds, sign boards, solid waste bins etc," he said.

He also said that the proposed Thokkottu-Melkar national highway will be widened and developed by the state government and the various junctions along the stretch will also be developed.

Mr. Khader Bhai, you are doing a great job to the society. But don't you think people in DK should piped gas facility 24/7, rather than distributing cylinders which will end up breeding more corruption in distribution areas? You can invest the same amount of money in implementing piped gas facility to the household in DK.

As soon as the rain started all development work for water conservation and improvements to the existing dams have stopped. The issue will come up again once we are in the peak of summer next year. Is there a master plan to complete all the pending projects in time rather than delaying the projects and thereby contractor submitting a variation order for additional cost due to delay?
    Thanks,

Providing good drinking water is a very good scheme put you cannot charge so much.A nominal 2 to 5rupees for 20 lts is ok especially in villages if not they will misuse the same but 10 rs is too high for someone from the rural area.

Ajai, Mangalore: We are all shouting at the top of our voice that rain water should be harvested and it is needed. But at the same Rain water entering sea is must to maintain PH of the sea water, else marine life and cloud formation will be affected, and the rainfall will be less.Nature has balance all these things and we are trying to go against the Nature, which is not advisable, and the Mother Nature knows how to balance itself with devastating effects, which we are aware and seeing now everywhere. If you feel what I have written here is wrong, request you to consult experts on this. Jai Hind

    Dear Khadar Bhai,
First of all I will congratulate for your new Ministry.

Sir,I request you to clear the mess of adding names in the 'ration card'.

I know you are new to this department. The government web portal is filled with lot grammatical errors and it is not user friendly.

I can apply online visa with only three clicks to European Union. But adding names to ration card seems to be more difficult than crossing to Lanka.

Create website with one click fix which user can fill all the information and upload documents instead of running through typing centers.

Secondly,I would like to question why family members need register again whose details are already being added to the ration card?

    What a planned government.
For drinking water people must fetch the money.
At village people still depend upon wood for preparing food. What option given to them especially to farmers.
They cannot depend upon gas cylinders..as it's cost them more.
What ever facility provided is for urban people..for there welfare.
