Hassan, Jul 23: Police personnel of extension police station here have booked former assistant commissioner, Vijaya, who had tried to end her life and is being treated in a hospital here. The complaint was registered suo motu.
Vijaya had tried to commit suicide at her residence on Thursday last. She is now recovering in the hospital.
Within hours since Vijaya tried to end her life, deputy commissioner of the district, Umesh H Kusugal, was transferred to Karnataka Administrative Tribunal. Newly appointed deputy commissioner, Chitra V, took over charge immediately.
MLA, H D Revanna, addressing a press conference on Friday, claimed that before trying to commit suicide, Vijaya had called assistant commissioner of police. "If both the mobile phones are collected and checked, the truth will come out," he said.
Earlier in the day, Congress member of legislative council, Gopala Swamy, accused Revanna of trying to reap political benefit out of Vijaya suicide attempt incident. He demanded for investigation into who had harassed Vijaya.
