Mangaluru, Jul 26: Some KSRTC buses resumed service from city in the evening of Tuesday, July 26.

Mangaluru –Dharmasthala, Mangaluru- Kasargod, State Bank-Manipal (Volvo) are the buses that left the city in the evening.

The strike called by transport unions has not been called off yet. The strike started on Monday, July 25.

The government has used the services of the trainee drivers to start the service, informed V I Hegde the divisional controller of KSRTC based in city.

Police protection was provided to the buses.

Mangaluru division alone has lost Rs 70 lac in revenues from yesterday, it is estimated.

The Manipal going bus was stopped at Lalbhag by some striking staff of KSRTC and they threatened the driver of the bus that he would face the consequences if he drove the bus to Manipal. Upon hearing this, the driver Basayya left the bus and walked out abandoning the passengers, the later reports said.

Government should give fair 20% hike.

Government buses needs to be kept clean should be well maintained.

For long distance buses should be run during weekends and alternative days depending on its usage. Example 3-4 trips per week.

This company should hire consultants and should learn how to use resources efficiently.

They should also reduce 25% staffs as well to save money.

It is genuine strike for the rights of KSRTC employees. But whether it is strike or Bandh, whatever the losses incurred due to strike/bandh will be recovered from the general public by charging hefty ticket fare on passengers during their journey. That is why government is not bothered about their strike/protests/bandhs.They know very well that whatever the losses incurred due to strikes, protests, bandhs will be recovered from the passengers. If they had to pay from their pockets, definitely they would have resolved this problem by inviting the employee's union leaders on negotiation table and address the issue.Employees demand is very much genuine and they too should lead respectable life like their employers.
