Mangaluru: Congress leadership trying to corner Janardhan Poojary?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 27: The fact that a press conference arranged by former union minister, B Janardhan Poojary, last Saturday at the district Congress office here was cancelled at the last minute, has given rise to speculation that the state leadership of the Congress, frustrated at the diatribe it has been subjected to by this influential leader from Karnataka coast, is trying to corner him.

Poojary addressed the press conference held on Tuesday at Press Club instead of his usual venue, Congress office. It is reported that he was denied permission to address press conference at the party office as there has been increased resentment within the party for the practice of bashing the party in press conferences held in its own office. Poojary, by choosing to address press conference at Press Club, seemed to send a clear signal that no one would be able to silence him.

During the last assembly election and again at the time of city corporation election, Poojary had worked for the party and ensured resounding victory for party candidates. After the state government led by Siddaramaiah was installed, Poojary was in the forefront to appreciate various schemes announced by the chief minister. However, when the turn of wrong decisions or protecting wrong people came, Poojary was vocal in deriding the style of administration. Once Yettinahole project was cleared, duly steamrolling the opposition from Dakshina Kannada district, angry Poojary rained criticism on Siddaramiah in different press conferences, expressing worries over this move delivering death blow to party in the coast. Poojary also did not dither from criticizing the government in functions held at Bengaluru and Mysuru too.

At press meet held at Press Club in Mangaluru on July 26

Kavu Hemanath Shetty, party leader from Puttur, had openly criticized Poojary for targetting the party from party forums sometime back, and had called upon Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee to act against this practice. During the recent visit of state working president of the party, Dinesh Gundu Rao to the city, some party workers had complained to him about the practice of firing salvos at the party government from its own office. Gundu Rao had said that there was no provision for the same.

Janardhan Poojary's stand is that he has been organizing press conferences to point out lacunae in the functioning of the government and not to deride anyone. He said he himself opted to hold press conference elsewhere to ensure that party leadership does not face any embarrassment on this issue.

I can understand the anger of the Congress supporters out here against Mr.Poojary
Somebody has said this “If you make a mistake and do not correct it, this is called a mistake”.
If you guys have all forgotten the May-2014 election result, let me remind you guys “Congress party has been restricted to 44 seats”. If the same continues 2019 will be worse.
Modi is just not doing anything, he is completely lost. Only thing which is saving him is the low oil price and now he is more dependent on Manmohan Singh drafted GST bill. But despite all this Congress is not able to take advantage of it because of leadership crisis.
Today Congress party is going through a serious leadership crisis and Karnataka is the only one big state wherein the party is in power.
2018 Karnataka assembly election is a do or die election for the Congress party. If Congress party loses the 2018 election then the party is almost finished. The only thing can save Congress is the infighting in state BJP.
George may be a Culprit or he may be Innocent but the need of the hour was his resignation and a fair trial to calm the boiling public. Because it is the same public who will elect or reject the party in the coming election. Mr.Poojary is just ringing the warning bell and at the same time trying to do some damage control when it comes to saving the parties image.
    People are the right judge.

Mr.Nitin you are absolutely correct! !, but there is one problem with Mr. Pojary that if he want to " EXPOSE" BJP there are lots of points or wrongdoings of BJP, instead he EXPOSE his own Party for silly mistakes from party's own office. What good we can expect from such a person who is bashing his own party's internal affairs from public platform where he never open his mouth against BJP at least once? What kind of Congress man he is? He is worst than the enemy, must be thrown out of the party.

In Karnataka it is Congress govt today only for the mismanagement and corruption of MLAs,Ministers of BJP govt headed by Yedyurappa.Shakuni,Kubera, currency note counting machine owner and even thundu local leaders have turned into crorepathis.Yedyurappa could not understand the psychology of common people/voters.So they voted present govt for a change and teaching a lesson to BJP .If Yedyurappa does not understand the said fact in next election as he is definite to form the govt after 2018,people will not forgive him. Many Congress people think that present govt by Congress is due their effort.Count down for Congress in Karnataka has begun already with thick skinned arrogant CM at the helm.

    Lavanya,

Sitting abroad or within India does not mean that people's freedom of expression should be curtailed.
I am following all the developments through Daiji media and have observed that Mr. Poojary always talks rubbish or loose talk (free way) and never uses his credentials to guide party politics sitting with other leaders. He thinks pushing others to task will enhance congress image. Rather he doe more harm than protecting party image.
If you want to vote for him that's your wish but I will never vote if at all given a chance in the future. Most of the people have lost faith in him and why he is still trying to uphold his theory of success for ever & ever. For everything there is a time frame including Mr. Modi's popularity.

Just because Shotgun and Sidhu fires salvos at BJP overnight they became your fav Actor and Cricketer ( you may not accept this, but you know it’s true, never mind). Forget them.

Here is a congress veteran , Clean non-corrupt politician, who is like a slave of INC and worshiper of Indira Gandhi. His only mistake is (loose tongue of course) he speaks truth. So people who speak Harsh truth have no place in Congress ? Poor Jannanna has to take permission of Bebiyanna or Ibrahim Kodijal(who once upon a time used to sit along with BJPOO in his press meet).

Billavas have stopped voting as bloc as they know its the Ploy by congress to divide Hindu votes. This election and next elections, We all vote as hindus. 2018 DK Lots will re-bloom in full DK (except may be ULLAL which has a good MLA). In 2019 Nalin Kumar hatrik with minimum 1.5 lakh lead.

It is apparent that since last two general elections Billavs in Mangalore have sided with BJP.If at all your preposition becomes reality then BJP in Mangalore will doomed. No such chances in near future.
