Mangaluru, Jul 27: CCB police in the city and the Karkala town police have intensified the investigations into the piracy of the soon-to-be released Tulu film 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa'.
City police commissioner Chandra Sekhar and outgoing Udupi district police superintendent Annamalai took the issue of piracy very seriously and directed immediate probe into it some days back.
The police in the twin districts had raided many mobile shops and cyber centres where they believed the film was being downloaded sold to people. The film was sold for Rs 20 at Moodbidri and Karkala. One person was taken into custody and interrogated. Based on the inputs received from him, the investigation is going on the right track, sources said. Police have received crucial leads which will be revealed once the investigation is completed, source said.
Though several piracy incidents have taken place in the past, the CCB police have treated this case with special attention and taken it up as a challenge. They have decided to send the pirated films for forensic analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to get a clear picture about the leak. Sub-inspector Ravi from Karkala police station said that the forensic analysis will help to nab the kingpin and will reveal finer details about the theft.
CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik said that a report on the progress of the investigation will be revealed soon.
'Dabak Dabaa Aisa' produced under the banner of Jaya Kirana Films is set to release on August 5.
