Mangaluru: Curbing drug menace - Excise officials raid 8 places including colleges

Mangaluru, Jul 27: A team led by excise deputy superintendents Amarnath Bhandary and Shivaprasad on Wednesday July 27 raided eight places in the city in order to curb drug menace and also to create awareness about drugs and narcotic substances among the youth.

The team raided college premises and petty shops near Sri Devi College, St Aloysius College, Srinivas College, Valachil, Mangaluru Junction railway station.

The team included several personnel including the excise inspector and sub-inspectors, who went around the city in eight vehicles.

Speaking to daijiworld, excise deputy superintendent Amarnath Bhandary said that the raid was conducted as per the instructions of excise DC L A Manjunath following the meeting convened by the deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim recently.

No drugs or narcotic substance was found by the team in any of the places.

    The Police should not conduct raids like this. Instead let them watch without police dress and catch hold of the drug sellers.

    Our Excise Dept. and other Law Enforcing Agencies have to work in a smarter and more effective manner, with use of the latest technology (including CCTVs) as also with use of informers and sniffer dogs, in curbing the drug menace. Punishment for selling/usage of banned drugs/substances should be so severe, that no one should be tempted to indulge in it.

    If not, the lives and future of many of our youth is going to be ruined forever.

    There should be sniffer dogs they will make the raids easier ,this looks like photo op,with no result, there is drugs going around Mangalore for sure. Educate the youth about drugs by involving them in the campaign would at least bring some results.

    Just see some of the students and their weird beards and hairstyle!. I am sure these students will never even reach double figure in any exam!. They are there not to study but just only to create trouble in the campuses.

    This is the same story throughout India. The police are rather encouraging this trade for their monetary gain. One drug lord in Mumbai, when he founded a political party, told in the meeting openly that if the police want they can stop all illegal activities in a day, but they do not want to stop, it is only through their help, that these activities flourish.

    The culprits must have got the information much earlier than police ignite their vehicle engine at police station.
    this is all drama. YAAN HACKILEKKA MALPUVE, EE BULTHILEKKA MALPULA.
    dear DC sir, please raid your internal officers first and check their mobiles before you instruct them to start for these kind of raid. The information comes in later, but the information goes out first. all is not well with department.
    This will be alright when Indian government hike police department salary at least 10 times more, then we can expect true raids will result @ 25%. if the salaries goes up to 25 times then 60%. and if the salaries goes above 60% then the raids will never takes place.
    The thirst of police department or any other department cannot be quenched. God has to come down and raid then 100% result will come.

    The authorities could not control this menace all these while. They are playing with the life of the youth, college students and even the high school students. Brutally curb this deadly menace without any mercy.
