Kundapur: 28-year-old dies after being hit by train at Kanyana

Kundapur, Jul 28: A person died after being hit by a train at Kanyana in Hattiangady here on Wednesday July 27.

The deceased has been identified as Raghavendra Poojary (28), a resident of Rajadi near Tallur here.

Raghavendra was returning home from the market when the train accident took place.

Raghavendra was working in a hotel in Raichur and had come back to his hometown just a week ago. On Wednesday evening, he went to Katbelthur market to buy some fish, milk and curds, and in the process, had to cross a railway track. On his way back, a train hit him near a bridge at Kanyana, killing him on the spot. His body was thrown off the bridge due to the impact.

A person who was working nearby witnessed the accident and immediately informed the locals. People gathered at the spot in no time and found packets of fish, curds and milk strewn around the railway track. They searched for Raghavendra and finally found his body lying among the bushes near under the bridge.

Raghavendra was unmarried. He was one among the three children of Thimma and Sakku Poojary.

Kundapur PSI Nasir Hussain and other personnel visited the spot and registered a case.
