Bengaluru, Jul 28: Karnataka chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah, left for Belgium early morning on Thursday July 28 to visit his son, Rakesh, who fell ill due to issues concerning his pancreas functioning during his tour of Belgium. Principal secretary, L K Atheeq, accompanied him.

After he fell ill at Belgium, Rakesh was admitted into a hospital in that country, and has shown progress in health condition, as per information. His family has been in constant touch with the doctors at the hospital, it is gathered.

Siddaramaiah, who plans to get his son treated either in Singapur or USA, has held consultations with medical experts here. However, sources close to the CM were reluctant to pinpoint actual health problem Rakesh has been diagnosed with.

Rakesh was on a tour of Belgium along with some friends, and the CM got to know about his ill health on Tuesday night, it is gathered. Reports said that the CM got in touch with external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj, and requested her to arrange for all necessary support and assistance to his son through the Indian embassy there.

On Wednesday, mass prayers were offered at Ullal Dargah near Mangaluru, seeking early recovery of chief minister, Siddaramaiah's son. At the prayer, led by Dargah Committee president, Rashid Ullal, Dua was performed by Haji Ahmed Bava Musliyar. Several dignitaries including vice president, U K Monu Kotepura, general secretary, Twaha Muhammed and joint secretary, Naushad Melangady,p articipated.
