Pallavi Mohan to exhibit creations in Kolkata

Kolkata, Jul 28 (IANS): Fashion designer Pallavi Mohan will showcase the pre-fall and autumn-winter runway 2016 collections under her Not So Serious brand with a two-day solo exhibition starting July 29 here.

This will be her second solo exhibition and she is excited to be back in the City of Joy.

"I have always had a nostalgic connection with Kolkata growing up here. I spent all my summer vacations here as a child. Being close to home, I knew everyone there, it's a place I can relate to and that has had a great influence on me as a person.

"Even as a market, Kolkata is surprisingly trendy. I actually think that Kolkata is trendier, and Delhi girls are more experimental. The city is by far my largest market in India," she said.

For this exhibit, the designer has collaborated with her two friends, Anahita Kayan and Ekta Agrawal who are the hosts for her exhibition at The Space at 9/2 here. They have exclusively created a customised space to suit the look of the Not So Serious brand.

Mohan's creations involve the juxtaposition of plain and surface ornamentation, intense colours and interludes of breathing space. Her concept is to depict garments, not as objects but as a manifestation of diversity as energy as an attempt to bring the world together.

Woolen tweeds, soft velvet, silk organza and satins form the core of the autumn-winter 2016 collection.
