Bengaluru, Jul 29: Criminal investigation department, to which investigation into circumstances leading to Chikkamagaluru deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Kallappa Handibag's suicide has been entrusted, has intensified its efforts in this direction. As a result, three more persons were arrested from the city on Thursday July 28.

Jeevaraj from Halasur in the city, as well as Keerti and Yashas from Gayatri Nagar, have been taken into custody. Reportedly, the trio was involved with the kidnap of financier Tejas Gowda that was planned and executed by Praveen Khandya.

Under instructions of Khandya over financial dispute, Naveen Shetty had put together a group of youth for abducting Tejas with the help of his son's classmate, Abhishek. Joy Milton, Jeevaraj, Yashas and Keerti were members of this team, officials stated.

Jeevaraj happens to be a body builder, while Yashas, who also happens to be the classmate of Naveen Shetty's son, is a student of a private college. Keerti was the driver of the vehicle used for kidnapping Tejas Gowda.

It is gathered that the accused from the city do not have any direct connection with Praveen Khandya and Naveen Shetty acted as link between them and Khandya. Sources said that they got money from Khandya after the kidnap plan was executed.
