Mangaluru: Serial accident at Kotekar claims life of 53-year-old teacher

Mangaluru, Jul 29: A ghastly serial accident at Kotekar under Ullal police station limits on Friday July 29 claimed a man's life.

The deceased has been identified as Naveen Udaya Kumar (53), a resident of Haribadavana near Madoor.

Naveen used to teach swimming to students at Prestige School, sources said.

The accident took place when a car moving towards Kerala from Mangaluru went out of control, hit the divider on the highway near Adka in Kotekar, and due to speed, moved over the other side of the divider before coming to a stop. At the same time, Naveen who was riding his bike towards Mangaluru hit the Innova car. A route 42 bus which was right behind Naveen also smashed into his bike.

The impact of the accident was such that Naveen died on the spot.

Sources said that some of the passengers in the Innova car sustained injuries and have been admitted to hospital.

    Ask any Traffic Police of Kadri East and they will tell you that the KL Registration Vehicles are death knell to People of DK. Just stand at junction near Mary Hill School. Watch the speed of these KL Vehicle speeding towards Airport. Watch the way they pass the School Buses and Little Children walking on road. They zig zag along with other vehicle with high speed.
    There is lot of Gold and Drug smuggling,money from Gulf has to be shown to Mangaloreans. This is one way to do it with large Innovas and Fortuners with their Fortune.
    I request to Mangaloreans,please put pressure on Traffic Authorities to get tough on these K L Vehicles specially KL 14 registration.

    Since Kerala has single road highways that are densely populated they cannot drive fast. They tend to drive very rashly when they enter Karnataka (at Talapady or near Gundlupet). These people hardly see such empty and wide highways. They just step on the throttle. This over-speeding has to be controlled strictly by police on the highways that touch Kerala.

    some how we are hearing so many times that KL vehicles entering the city are always found driving reckless. Authorities need to have a look on this since it's repeatedly occurring and ending my many lives recently. Very unfortunate incident. for no reason of him , Naveen lost his life.

    Sorry to hear the untimely death of my colleague and my friend Naveen who was working in Zamil Saudi Arabia and left back to join his family last ten years back. Suddenly surprise to hear the news in Daijiworld that he met with an accident and died on he spot. May the departed soul rest in peace and my heartfelt condolence's to his bereaved family.

    BAN KL Registered vehicles entering into Karnataka as there is no ethics of driving in them, looks like Keralite drivers are worst in our country . Ban entry from Talapady especially private cars and taxis. Reckless drivers, they just DON'T KNOW what is driving & which STATE are they driving.

    NO SPEED LIMITS TO THEIR DRIVING & THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS LANE DISCIPLINE.

    Rip dear brother.. Speed radars everywhere and heavy fine is the only solution... Even after the highways become 4 lane, nothing has changed about accidents... Traffic rules and penalties should be like gulf counties...
