Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar to again team up for 'De Dhakka' remake


Mumbai, July 29 (IANS): Actor Sanjay Dutt will be seen playing lead role in the Hindi remake of the hit Marathi film “De Dhakkaâ€?. The film will go on floors next year.

The news of Sanjay, who turned a year older on Friday, being a part of the film has been confirmed but the rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. 

Under the banner of Sandeep Singh and Omung Kumar's production house Legend Studios, the film will be directed by the actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar, read a statement. 

Sanjay walked out a free man from jail earlier this year, 23 years after his legal problems began over his possessing an assault rifle and since then, he has been getting projects galore. 

Sanjay was to start an untitled film with Siddharth Anand, but it got delayed. Apart from that, he will also be seen in "Total Dhamaal". 

If the Marathi version is anything to go by, "De Dhakka" will be a laughter riot blending with the emotional journey of a family. 

Sanjay and Manjrekar have previously worked together in the super hit film “Vaastav: The Realityâ€? where they created magic on the silver screen and are looking forward to work together after a long gap. 

Manjrekar said: “I was contemplating working with him as I wanted to work on something different, something that would surprise the audience. Then 'De Dhakka' came and I felt it was the perfect subject. Sanjay will have the family audience and youth rooting.
