Mangalore, Nov 26: Kopplamane Narayana Bhat (83), one of the main archaks at the centuries-old Shri Bappanad Durga Parameshwari temple of Ombattu Magane at Mulki near here, passed away following a heart attack on November 24.

The sad end came as Bhat was entering the temple precincts to perform the daily rituals in the morning. As he collapsed, he was rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved.

Bhat was known for his devotion and dedication and was a veteran in religious rites and rituals.

He is survived by wife, four sons and two daughters.
