Mangaluru, Jul 30: The district administration bade farewell to former deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim at DC office premises here on Saturday July 30.

Speaking about former deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim, ADC Kumar said, “Transfer is part of work in government service. A good officer is like a flowing stream. Deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim has served the district for 2 years and 7 months and was able to win hearts of people. His activism and administrative qualities always motivated us. He is young in heart and an energetic man. He implemented many tangible works in district which will remain permanent in the minds of people. His positive thinking and good administrative abilities will be missed.”

“AB Ibrahim truly loved the people of district. He never disappointed people who came to seek his help. He is a good administrator and people could approach him any time,” he said.

Mangaluru police commissioner Chandrasekar along with others honoured former deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim.

Speaking on the occasion, AB Ibrahim said, “I was privileged to have got the opportunity to serve this district. People and officers supported me in all my endeavours. While implementing government objectives, sometimes we need to take hard decisions,"

"I made 79 posts of ‘Paura Karmikas’ permanent in city corporation. We should work for the betterment of a larger society. I have faced controversies and challenges all through my work. I will face the same in future too but I will be always committed to my work and responsibilities. Officers should use the law for the betterment of public.” he added.

Terming media as great tool to reach people, he said, “With the help of media, I could reach people. Administrative decisions and programmes reach a larger audience only with the help of media. I have succeeded in resolving various issues but in some aspects like sand mining and building of Ranga Madira, we could have worked better.”

Throwing light on the scarcity of officers in the administration, he said, “The top key posts like RTO, Tahsildars, PWD and other posts are vacant. We should look into the positive aspect of law,” he added.

Speaking to the gathering, police commissioner Chandrasekar said, “There is something unique about AB Ibrahim. Generally, people look for change to happen on its own but AB Ibrahim initiates change and tries to bring positive change in things.”

“When any organizations called for bandh, he could resolve it and he had the courage to express the impact of bandh on common man's life openly in public forum. He also accepted criticism and always tried to improve,” he added.

ZP CEO PI Shrividhya, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, superintendent of police Bushan Gulabrao Borase also spoke on the occasion.

DFO Hanumanthappa, DCP Shantharaju and others were present.

In Mr. Ibrahim, we are losing a great administrator. As Commissioner of Police Mr. Chandra Shekar said Mr. Ibrahim made changes wherever and whenever called for.

I have known Mr. Ibrahim for the past several decades as a forthright and honest man. He was an extremely busy person devoting his time and attention to the city of Mangalore and the people of Mangalore. In Mr. Ibrahim we have lost a great administrator and indeed a wonderful friend.
