Constance Wu slams 'The Great Wall'

Los Angeles, July 31 (IANS): Taiwanese-American actress Constance Wu has criticised the upcoming Matt Damon-starrer American-Chinese fantasy adventure film "The Great Wall" for featuring white men as the film's heroes.

"We have to stop perpetuating the racist myth that only a white man can save the world," Wu wrote in a letter posted on Twitter after a trailer for the movie was released, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"It's not based on actual fact. Our heroes don't look like Matt Damon. They look like Malala, Gandhi, Mandela," she added.

The "Parallels" actress argued that money couldn't be blamed for the choice of actors.

"The Great Wall" will release in US by Universal Pictures on February 17, 2017, two months after the movie's Chinese debut.
